ERIN BORTHWICK : A COMMITMENT TO HELPING CHILDREN IN NEED
Erin Borthwick, a logistics administrator for a crane company in Tom Price, is preparing for a meaningful act of generosity that will touch the lives of many. On December 7th, Erin will cut her hair and donate it to Variety, the children's charity, to help create wigs for children battling illnesses.
This act is part of a fundraiser in which Erin not only donates her hair but also raises money to support the charity's broader mission of providing care, education, and extra support to sick children.
The decision to donate her hair stems from Erin's long-standing desire to make a difference.
After shaving her head a few years ago, she grew her hair back with the intention of eventually donating it to a worthy cause.
"I wanted to do something meaningful with my hair that could help others, especially children who face so many challenges," she shared.
For Erin, supporting Variety, which provides wigs for children undergoing medical treatments, was an easy choice.
She hopes that the donated wigs will help these children regain their sense of identity and confidence.
"Image is a huge part of who we are, and I think these wigs will give them the chance to feel more like themselves without feeling self-conscious or different," Erin explained.
She also recognizes that the impact goes beyond just the wigs, as the funds raised will support the charity's vital programs for sick children.
Through this personal journey, Erin has been inspired by her own experience of embracing a shaved head and challenging societal standards of beauty.
She encourages others, especially young women, to be true to themselves and embrace their unique identities.
"I wish every woman had the confidence to shave their head at least once in their life. ," she said.
Erin hopes that her story inspires others to take action, whether through small or large gestures and reminds us that every contribution counts. "You only live once, and the more we can help others, the better the world will be."
Mark your calendars for December 7th and support Erin's inspiring commitment to improving the lives of children in need.
