TOM CURTIN TO BRING GOOD LIFE TOUR TO KARRATHA AND BEYOND

BY MIRANDA SAUNDERS AND TANGIORA HINAKI

Tom Curtain, a multiple Golden Guitar winner and renowned horseman, is bringing his award-winning Katherine Outback Experience to Karratha on Friday, 28 March. Alongside Laura Frank and Chris Matthews, he’ll deliver a unique mix of music, storytelling, and horsemanship. Known for his high-energy live shows,

Tom has a knack for connecting with audiences and in a recent interview, he shared insights into his Good Life Tour, life on the road, and the stories behind his songs.

His new single, Just Give It a Crack, draws inspiration from a conversation he had while on tour. His friend Chris Matthews encouraged him to approach life with a “give it 110%” attitude, which sparked the idea for the song. It’s all about taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone, something Tom believes is important after meeting so many people who’ve done just that.

Reflecting on 2024, Tom shared the busy pace of balancing family life with his music career. With two young kids and a packed tour schedule, he and his team performed 250 shows across Australia. He also hinted at a new album due out in August, filled with stories from the people he’s met along the way.

He also discussed the personal side of his music, highlighting his song Speak Up, written in memory of a young girl, Dolly, who took her life after facing online bullying. The song has become part of a larger conversation on mental health and the impact of bullying, and Tom uses his platform to raise awareness.

His shows are a family affair, with his wife Laura Frank handling the videography and animals like goats and horses making appearances. His performances combine music with animal training, including playing guitar while riding a horse - a skill he’s perfected over the years.
