FIRST NATIONS MEDIA AWARDS 2024: CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN INDIGENOUS MEDIA

Canberra, Australia — The 2024 First Nations Media Awards, held earlier this month in the nation’s capital, celebrated outstanding achievements and contributions to the Indigenous media sector.
With a focus on broadcasting, production, leadership, and innovation, the awards recognized the commitment of individuals and organizations driving the growth and development of First Nations media.
Ngarralinyi Radio won the Outstanding Contributor Award for making a significant impact through its contributions to community development, leadership, and technical innovation.
Dre Ngatokorua won the Community Leadership Award for being an active media practitioner whose dedication and work strengthened their organization and community.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award, acknowledging decades of dedication to the advancement of Indigenous media.
This year’s winner was Umeewarra Aboriginal Media CEO Vince Coulthard for playing a pivotal role in shaping the national First Nations media landscape, leaving an indelible legacy of leadership, advocacy, and cultural preservation.
Orlando Rubuntja received the Young Leaders Award in recognition of his hard work, creativity, and dedication.
This award recognises a nominee under 25 years old who is making a difference in our local communities and to acknowledge, encourage and promote the positive achievements of young Indigenous Australians.
